Decks that revolve around sacrificing creatures to trigger effects or gain advantages would find this card useful. However, there are better options available in Magic: the Gathering that provide more impactful effects for similar costs, such as Phyrexian Arena or Bitterblossom, making Decomposition less likely to see play in competitive decks.

If a permanent has multiple instances of cumulative upkeep, each triggers separately. However, the age counters are not connected to any particular ability; each cumulative upkeep ability will count the total number of age counters on the permanent at the time that ability resolves.
