Devourer of Destiny would benefit a control deck looking to disrupt the opponent's board by exiling colored permanents. While its ability to manipulate the top of your library can provide some card selection, there are more efficient options available in the format such as Thought-Knot Seer or Reality Smasher. Devourer of Destiny may not see much play in competitive settings due to its high cost and the availability of stronger Eldrazi options.
