About Fireball

Fireball, Sorcery, designed by Mark Tedin first released in Aug, 1993 in the set Limited Edition Alpha and was printed exactly in 42 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 6.10. It's a key card in 2 combos.

A deck that focuses on direct damage or burn strategies would benefit from including Fireball in its lineup, as it offers flexibility in targeting multiple threats or finishing off opponents. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats, Fireball is often overshadowed by more efficient and versatile options like Banefire or Expansion // Explosion, which offer better scalability or additional utility. While Fireball can still see play in casual or budget decks, it may not be the optimal choice for more competitive environments.

Rules

11/17/17

Fireball’s damage is divided as Fireball resolves, not as it’s cast, because there are no choices involved. The division involves only targets that are still legal as Fireball resolves.

11/17/17

For example, if X is 5 and you choose three target creatures, Fireball has a total cost of (even though its mana cost is just and its converted mana cost is 6). If those creatures are all still legal targets as Fireball resolves, it deals 1 damage to each of them.
