A deck that focuses on graveyard recursion and reanimation strategies, particularly those in black, would benefit from including Rise from the Grave. However, there are potentially better options such as Animate Dead or Reanimate which have lower mana costs and can target any graveyard. Rise from the Grave could still see play in certain decks that want additional reanimation effects or want to specifically target a creature in an opponent's graveyard.

A later effect that changes the affected creature’s colors will overwrite that part of Rise from the Grave’s effect; the creature will be only the new color. The same is true about an effect that changes the affected creature’s types or subtypes.

Rise from the Grave doesn’t overwrite any previous colors or types. Rather, it adds another color and another subtype.
