Guide: All Digimon TCG Colors
If you're a Digimon fan and have just begun playing the TCG, gather around! This article will show you how the main mechanics and game styles are connected to each color in the game, that is, yellow, blue, white, black, purple, green, and red!
Yellow
This "Angel" color is incredible. Yellow Digimon are often connected to Light and Electricity in some way.
In Digimon TCG, yellow is known for controlling your life points - your "Security". It is also known for its many defensive strategies and ways to "recover" from lost games.
Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Yellow
DP Reduction: instead of destroying Digimon directly, yellow cards often reduce their DP to make them vulnerable or even remove them later on. This works because, according to the rules, when a Digimon's DP goes to zero, it is deleted. And, because, in this case, the Digimon in question was deleted by a "rule" and not directly by another card, protections like "Can't be deleted by enemy effects" don't apply.

Manipulating your Security: many yellow cards not only add cards to your Security (which are your "life points" in this game), but also let you look for cards in it, trash them to activate effects, and even evolve Digimon into Security cards!

Reducing Security Checks: another interesting debuff you'll find in yellow cards is reducing how many checks (damage dealt to another player) a Digimon does. When we do this, we are essentially finding ways to stay in the game for longer, as, with it, our opponent will have to work a bit harder to destroy the cards in our Security!

Yellow is perfect if you enjoy control archetypes in other TCGs.
Blue
Blue often represents the deuteragonists in the franchise, so it represents the "best friend" or "second-hand man" of the protagonist. Or the runner-up, the friendly rival! Furthermore, blue also represents water creatures and ice Digimon.
In Digimon TCG, blue is a fast color that can draw a lot of cards. It is known for its consistency.

Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Blue
Removing Materials: Blue cards often remove enemy Digivolution sources, so it makes their effects weaker and their cards vulnerable. Some blue cards also interact with this sort of mechanic - for instance, you can only use some of them if an enemy Digimon has less materials than yours, or none.

Multiple Attacks (Jamming and Unsuspend): many blue Digimon, when you meet certain conditions, untap and let you attack with them more than once per turn. Furthermore, the keyword Jamming, which is extremely common in blue cards, essentially makes sure your Digimon never lose battles against Digimon in your opponent's Security.

Returning cards to the opponent's hand: bounces are one of the most common resources in this color. It is a way to remove an enemy Digimon, but, instead of deleting it, you'll simply return it to their hand. When you do this, your opponent will lose the entire evolution stack under that Digimon, so they'll have to set it up all over again if they do decide to replay it.

Stun: some blue cards also prevent Digimon from attacking, blocking, or even untapping through other means until the end of the opponent's turn. This is often incredibly disruptive for them, and there's no easy answer for it.

Blue is perfect if you enjoy fast games and drawing a lot of cards.
White
In Digimon TCG, white is unique. It's unlike any other color because, in general, it doesn't work as a "main deck color", but rather as support for many strategies. It doesn't have its own, fixed color identity. White cards and white Digimon usually work on their own, or affect multiple colors.
However, there are a few special, niche decks that center around white cards, like Eosmon and Mother D-reaper.

Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: White
Neutral, Universal Digimon: many white Digimon can evolve from any color or support many strategies.

Powerful Option Cards: some white cards are Options and have global effects. This type of effect impacts the entire board.

Support for Multicolored Strategies: certain white Digimon support decks that play multiple colors.

Access to Specific Strategies: some white decks lean on incredibly specific strategies that only work in their own theme deck. That's the case for Mother D-Reaper and Eosmon, which are the core white Digimon in their decks.

Controlling the Pace: white also includes universal tools that control the rhythm of the match. These are often tamers.

White is perfect if you enjoy unique strategies.
Black
Welcome to the Factory, where robots and other inorganic beings shine. In Digimon TCG, black is known for its resilience, defense, and blocking strategies.
While other colors focus on aggression or control, black stands out for its toughness. Destroying black cards is a big problem, as they always have protection, and often force you to attack cards you don't want. Black also buffs cards when attacks are redirected, and plays ACE Digimon.
Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Black
Blocker and Taunt: many black Digimon have Blocker, which lets you intercept enemy attacks and protect your Security. Considering you can also force an enemy Digimon to attack with this color, Blocker is quite powerful.

Reboot: this ability untaps a Digimon at the beginning of your opponent's turn. With it, you'll be able to attack on your turn, and use a Blocker on your opponent's turn. Furthermore, you can also use this to protect the Digimon in question from enemy attacks.

Protection Against Removal: some black cards prevent destruction, bounce, or "DP reduction" effects.

Deleting Enemy Digimon: some black cards destroy enemy Digimon, depending on their play cost or level. It's another way to control the game.

De-Digivolve: you'll often find this type of effect in black cards. It essentially forces an enemy Digimon to "go back" one or more levels in their evolution line, so the opponent will have to remove the card on the top of the stack and reveal the one below.

Black is perfect if you enjoy building impenetrable barriers. Play your boss Digimon and show your opponent how hard they'll have to work to remove it!
Purple
The villain color. Unlike yellow, which includes all things holy, purple is where you'll find demons, ghosts, abyssal creatures, and all things dark. In Digimon TCG, purple is known for its discard mechanics (Trash), "On Deletion" effects, and mill strategies (strategies that force you or your opponent to discard your decks). It is one of the most complex, and difficult strategies in the game.
While other colors avoid losing Digimon, purple uses this and the graveyard to create unexpected value.
Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Purple
Interacting with the Trash: many purple Digimon let you recycle, evolve, or summon Digimon, tamers, and, in a few cases, even options directly from the trash pile.

"On Deletion" Effects: purple is known for Digimon that have powerful effects when they're destroyed.

Sacrifices In Exchange for Rewards: some purple cards force a player to discard cards from their own hand or deck, or even delete their own Digimon to activate certain effects.

Controlling and Removing the Board: many purple cards can destroy enemy Digimon according to their level, but only if you sacrifice one of your cards.

Purple is perfect if you enjoy interactions with the Trash and bringing cards back from the dead. You'll constantly use the cards you discard as a resource.
Green
Get your backpack, explorer gear, and lots of bug spray. We're going into the jungle. Green is where you'll find plants, beasts, insects, and faeries.

In Digimon TCG, green is known for its speed, particularly when Digivolving, controlling the board, and versatility. Green decks often lean on fast Digivolutions, using your memory efficiently, tapping enemy Digimon, and playing Digimon through effects. While some colors want to "divide and conquer", green wants to "expand and conquer".
Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Green
Speeding Up Digivolution: many green cards discount Digivolution costs, and let you set Digimon to level 6 incredibly fast.

Suspending Enemy Digimon: green can tap and "suspend" (Rest Mode) Digimon and tamers. You can even lock them down this way and make them vulnerable to attacks or effects.

Directed Attacks: some green Digimon can attack enemy Suspended Digimon safely, and, as such, control the board efficiently.

Extra Memory and Using Resources Efficiently: some green cards create more Memory or discount the cost of certain cards and effects.

Removals: green can send cards back to the opponent's hand or even the bottom of their deck.

Green is perfect if you enjoy a wide board, with many Digimon in play. However, it is also very versatile!
Red
This is where you'll find the protagonists. Red represents dragons, in general, and any fire-related Digimon. In Digimon TCG, red also represents aggression, offensive power, and destroying opponents before they can react.
Red decks often lean on fast attacks, buffing DP, and removing threats directly. It is one of the most powerful colors if you enjoy an explosive game style.

Main Mechanics in Digimon TCG: Red
Buffing DP: many red cards increase DP on your turn, and, in some cases, they even do it on your opponent's turn so you can beat stronger Digimon.

Security Attack +: red is known for removing multiple Security cards at once, and, as such, putting pressure on the opponent way faster than other colors.

Directly Destroying Digimon: unlike De-Digivolve or Bounce, red often deletes enemy Digimon according to their DP.

Explosive Plays: you can summon or evolve many red Digimon quite fast to create sudden threats.

Red is the most "linear" color in terms of game strategy. Just follow the evolution chain and remove as many Security cards as possible with one strike. If you want to win fast, and by a landslide, then this is your color!
